BEHIND THE SCENES
On Jewelry
My work is an exploration of unconventional woodworking techniques, broadening the boundaries of traditional jewelry. With a minimalist approach and making use of a pallet of exotic veneers I focus on a tactile hands on approach to my art. Within my work a visual aesthetic and technical process coexist in a multi layered structure. The design of each wearable art object emphasizes the anatomic beauty of the human form.
I approach every piece with an idea of how I want it to interact with the body. Each curve, line, and form is designed to make the most of the materials being used as well as the wearer’s anatomy. No two pieces are exactly alike, each one is an original sculpture. I take great pride in knowing that my work will be worn and enjoyed for many years to come.
The methods I use to create my jewelry are just as important to me as the final product. I enjoy working with wood because it is such a versatile material. It can be worked in so many different ways and takes on such a variety of finishes beautifully. I am constantly exploring new techniques and ways to push the material to its limits.
My goal is to create wearable art that is both beautiful and unique. Every piece I make is designed with both the materials and the wearer in mind. I hope that you enjoy exploring my work as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
